NYE 2014

The Gilmans hosted a New Year's Eve party, and Dan and Jakob headed over the mountain to attend.  Everleigh and I stayed home because we were having success with sleep training, but it was so early in the process that I didn't want to risk losing momentum to have a fun NYE.  (This was the right decision, but wow, it was depressing to celebrate by myself with a bowl of Cheerios for dinner.)  The boys all had fun playing together, and Jakob particularly enjoyed eating one side of a gingerbread house for dinner.  Talk about a tasty way to end 2014!

First Poop on the Potty!

I apologize that this whole post will qualify as TMI (and sorry, future Jakob, for the embarrassment it'll inevitably cause), but this is a big day in our house.  After I left for work today, Jakob went poop in his potty for the first time!  Dan noticed him straining and asked if he wanted to sit on the potty.  For the first time, Jakob said "uh huh," let Dan undress him, and sat on his potty until he was "all done."  He tried to flush it down about 10 times and was rather confused that it stayed in place, as opposed to what he sees the normal potty do, but he was VERY proud of himself nevertheless.  He said "Jakey did it" the whole way to daycare, and he even tried to go again when we got home.   We certainly don't expect this to be the new normal in our house, but we're very excited and proud of the little guy anyway.  Way to go Jakob on this big (although little, as you can see in the picture) milestone! Jakob Potty Training Update

Our little man is a peeing pro these days.  It's been almost a month since we told him we ran out of diapers and he started wearing big boy underwear fulltime.  He loves nature peeing and will happily do it anywhere (backyard = good, middle of downtown Burlington = less good, but we're working on that), and he's getting better at using the potty when we're away from home.  Yesterday he used it while at the movies with Grandma and Grandpa Janelle!  He still needs his pullups for going #2, but with one exception at the very beginning he hasn't had any nighttime accidents.  Way to go, Jakob, literally!

Grandma and Grandpa Janelle Come to Visit!

Grandma and Grandpa Janelle (and, of course, Zoey!) came to visit us this weekend.  Jakob showed them how much he's improved his eating skills with finger foods, and he loved watching Zoey run around! Grandma and Grandpa brought me Valentine's Day seals.  I think I like this pink one best. On second thought, maybe this red one is better Little Yoda I am ZOEY ZOEY ZOEY!
