Making Pouches

I'm back on the baby food making bandwagon!  Since it's still a little early for me to make and freeze some for Everleigh (they aren't supposed to be frozen for more than 2 months, and I'm shooting for exclusive nursing until she's 6 months), I figured I would give it a try with homemade applesauce for Jakob.  The cooking apples made the house smell wonderful, and it was fun having Jakob help me fill his pouches.

So this is a plunger?  I thought plungers were only for bathroom stuff.

First Poop on the Potty!

I apologize that this whole post will qualify as TMI (and sorry, future Jakob, for the embarrassment it'll inevitably cause), but this is a big day in our house.  After I left for work today, Jakob went poop in his potty for the first time!  Dan noticed him straining and asked if he wanted to sit on the potty.  For the first time, Jakob said "uh huh," let Dan undress him, and sat on his potty until he was "all done."  He tried to flush it down about 10 times and was rather confused that it stayed in place, as opposed to what he sees the normal potty do, but he was VERY proud of himself nevertheless.  He said "Jakey did it" the whole way to daycare, and he even tried to go again when we got home.   We certainly don't expect this to be the new normal in our house, but we're very excited and proud of the little guy anyway.  Way to go Jakob on this big (although little, as you can see in the picture) milestone! Eli's 1st Birthday Party

On Sunday afternoon we headed across the street for our buddy Eli's first birthday party.  Jakob had fun playing with Eli's toys, including his crawling tube and the new stuffed fish he got as a present. Helmet Head

Saturday morning we went to Richmond Rescue to get a free, brand new helmet for Jakob to go with his new tricycle.  I fully expected it to go poorly, because he doesn't particularly even like hats on his head.  Amazingly, we got through the entire fitting without him making a peep.  Then the EMT doing the fitting said "all done!" and Jakob burst into tears.  Fortunately looking at the ambulances helped calm him quickly. This is not my idea of a fun Saturday morning  I do sort of like all the cool bugs on this helmet though Wait, you mean I need to wear this thing on my head?! And there's a chin strap?!?! Thank goodness for the ambulances to distract me from my helmet-induced trauma I'm going to hang onto this for a while I may not entirely like this yet, but I'll give it a try on my own terms
