Closing Day -- Ending One Chapter, Starting on a New One

Today is the day we close on our new home in Jericho, Vermont!  It's so hard to believe we'll be saying good-bye to our beloved Huntington house.  We've made so many priceless memories since moving here on March 28, 2007.  We got engaged and married while living here, acquired a dog, birthed and started raising two perfect babies, attended other weddings of families and friends, rose up through the ranks at work (Dan) and finally landed my dream job (me), became an aunt and uncle for the first time, and developed friendships with other young families in Huntington.  Since listing our house for sale on February 1, 2015, time has flown by to this point, even though the past couple of weeks have felt like an eternity as we anxiously counted down to today.  We'll be heading to our attorney's office around noon today, closing on our Huntington house, then closing on our new forever home immediately thereafter.  After that we're picking up a moving van, getting the kids, and taking them to see the new house.  Dan is planning to take the next two weeks off to do some moving, with a little bit of help from me on the next two Fridays, and help from both sets of parents on the weekends.  It's going to be a busy couple of weeks, but we feel so fortunate that the buyers of our house were willing to rent back to us until July 1 so we could do this in stages.

I doubt Everleigh will be phased by the move, but Jakob is definitely aware that it's happening and may at times struggle with it.  He'll have a much bigger room, and the yard is way bigger.  We'll be closer to Richmond, which means for time for adventuring instead of driving in the car to get places.  But I know there will come a time when he wants to come back to our Huntington home.  And I think it'll be tough on him (and Dan and me) the first few times we drive by it to visit friends or play at the Huntington playground.  But there's no doubt in my mind he'll come to love our new home as much as Dan and I do very soon.  :-)  Thanks for the good times, Huntington!  You'll always feel like home.
