Turkey Lunch at JES!

Yesterday, JES hosted a Thanksgiving lunch for the students, and families were invited to attend.  Fortunately I was able to take some time off.  Wednesday on the car ride home he said to Everleigh "tomorrow is a special day for me because Mommy is coming to school for our Thanksgiving lunch."  Just about every kindergartener had at least one family member in attendance (it appeared much less busy for the next wave of students, who are older), and Jakob was basically buzzing with excitement.  He immediately pulled me into line behind his friend Benny and his dad.  The teachers and afterschool folks were serving the food, and every one of them knew Jakob by name...such a social butterfly!  We sat with Benny as well as his other friends Elin and Henry, although Jakob must have gotten up half a dozen times to say hi to other classmates and their parents at different tables.  He really enjoyed the turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin bread, while I thought the squash and stuffing were the best things on the trays.  It was fun to see the kids interacting with each other and get a little glimpse into the chaos that is their lunchtime.  Jakob was sad to see me go, but he did a good job with his goodbye (after four rounds of kisses and hugs, but I wasn't complaining!)  It was definitely a special day for both of us!
