Fletcher Allen Hospital - AMAZING CARE!

Now that we're home with Jakob and adjusting to life as a family of six (don't forget our three fur babies, who are doing very well so far with their new brother), it's time to say thanks and compliment the outstanding staff at Fletcher Allen Hospital for their first rate care.  When I arrived at the hospital on Friday, April 27th, I had a mild case of preeclampsia, and the decision was made to induce labor that evening.  Things changed rapidly, and by the next morning they diagnosed me with severe preeclampsia. There was a lot of talk of trying to speed up the process of labor, but since I had started at ground zero the day before (no dilation or effacement), that plan didn't go particularly well either.  At about 11 p.m. on Saturday the 28th, the doctors decided it was time to do a c-section, both for my health and Jakob's health.  Needless to say it wasn't the way we had hoped delivery would go, and the after effects of the numerous medications I was on weren't pretty, but it was a very successful surgery.  Each and every one of the doctors and nurses at Fletcher Allen exceeded our expectations, and it was as exceptional an experience as it could have been, given the circumstances.

Here are a few pictures from our nearly week-long stay.  The first set are the birthing rooms, complete with views of Burlington, Lake Champlain, and the Adirondacks.  There are a few before and after shots of us as well.
